Seventh Incision [Voice/(Accidentally) Written]
[Voice]
[Syre's voice tonight is calm -- emotionless, even -- as she broadcasts over the journals.]
To all that I may have interacted with during this most recent of Shifts: let it be known that the name Ariadelle Estriet [--hatred creeps into her voice for that brief moment, dark and bitter--] is one that I prefer not to be addressed by.
I would not have my image sullied by taking on the name of a deserter.
[The feed stops shortly after that.]
[Written; Accidental]
[Much, much later that night, a series of quick notes show up. It seems Syre has mistaken her broadcast journal for the one she normally keeps research in.]
-- Energy expenditure in creation of all constructs 1.5 times normal. Care needed to avoid exhaustion.
-- Still unable togive life toanimate constructs for more than few seconds at a time. Related to power limits of enclosure(?).
-- Research required into alternate means of animating constructs. Must favor alchemic/magical practices; technological research too time-/resource-consuming.
-- Additional research required to grant construct minor magical/alchemic abilities; useful for construction of potential assistant(s).

[Action]
[Luke points at the building not twenty feet away]
Lets go.
[Action]
[She laughs, folding her hands behind her back as she begins walking alongside Luke.]
[Action]
[He leads her inside and takes a window seat, ordering a simple cup of oolong]
So, why the long hours?
[Action]
[A cup of mint tea is what she chooses for herself, and she lets her head rest on her palm.]
This Shift... it opened wounds that I'd forgotten I had, and caused a few new ones in the process.
Better to forget myself in my work, than dwell on them and let them consume me.
[Action]
[He offers a weary smile]
Tell me about it, and perhaps I can help ease your burden a bit. With more than just listening.
[Action]
[Syre sighs deeply, looking down at the table before looking over at Luke.]
I had no idea how... lonely... I was until this Shift made me think that I was in a loving relationship.
And now, now that I know that it wasn't true and that I'm stuck being... alone... It's like having a knife stuck through my chest.
[Action]
[Luke says those words barely above a whisper. This...reminded him of Valentine's Day all over again. Of when...he'd believed he was madly in love with the quiet, shy girl and too nervous to say anything himself.]
It...it isn't easy. But you aren't alone. You can't think like that.
[Action]
...my mind reminds me that there are others in far worse situations than I. But, at the same time...
[She brings a hand over her heart, her expression almost pained.]
It's not so easy for the emotional side to heal. And this damnable heart of mine won't seem to leave me alone.
[Action]
[Luke gives her a hopeful look]
Think thats possible with this situation?
[Action]
[Their tea finally arrives, and Syre takes a long sip before she speaks again..]
... Do you know a man named Lupin?
[Action]
[Luke looks down at the table, clearly something amiss.]
Pretty well, actually.
[Action]
Are you... not on good terms with him, then?
[Action]
[Luke shrugged]
He and I had an argument, he was doing foolish things that would get him hurt or killed, and it lead to him getting angry. I'm not sure what sort of terms I want to be on with him. He seemed to be under the impression I was one of his 'gang' of criminals or something.
[Action]
[She looks down at the table, thoughtfulness clear on her face. He might already know why she asked that question.]
[Action]
[Luke looks down at the table.]
Why am I not surprised?
[Action]
[Shame seemed to creep into her voice.]
I should have figured it out earlier, really...
[Action]
[Luke gives her a sad look]
I wouldn't say that. You had no idea who you were, and you clung to hope. Nothing wrong with that.
[Action]
[Because, really, if she had kept things as organized as she did back home, this likely wouldn't have happened...]
... I should have left myself notes. Reminders of things.
Not... blissfully play along what whatever the Malnosso did.
I should have questioned everything, but I blindly accepted...
[Action]
[Luke sipped quietly at his tea.]
But now you know to keep notes. I keep several notebooks filled with important things around my house, for just such a thing.
[Action]
... It's funny, how easily the Malnosso can twist our minds.
Funny, and quite infuriating.
[Action]
You are alive, and you are well. That matters more than anything.
[Action]
It's hard. [She swallows back the crack in her voice, forcing herself to speak evenly.] It's so hard, to remain calm, and not let things irritate me like this.
But Gods be damned if I ever have to face something like this again. [She drains her cup in one final drink, then leans her head back tiredly, her eyes distant.] All the self-control in the world couldn't keep me calm then.
[Action]
[Luke shakes his head and sighs]
Jedi walk a razor's edge, anger and hatred bring out the Dark Side in us. If you would like, I can help you with that. Meditation techniques to keep you calm.
[Action]
[Syre is silent a moment, shutting her eyes before lowering her head.]
I would... very much appreciate that. [If it would help her suppress things like this, then it was certainly worth a shot.]
[Action]
[Luke smiles oddly]
Syre, have you met Spock?
